Five for Friday

Two down, one to go!  Today we finished our second trimester!  I can't believe there's only 12 weeks left to the school year!  What a great way to end the trimester with a three day weekend.  We have our records day next Friday, so next week is a three day week with students!
I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to give you Five for Friday!

1. Valentine's Day-  This year for Valentine's Day I gave my students a new highlighter with this cute little Valentine
This year our Valentine's Day party had to be kept under 30 minutes.  Gone are the days of just having a little bit of fun at school...  That's all I have to say.

2. I MADE IT!!  This week I  made enough in TpT sales to get my first paper check at the end of the quarter!!

3.  Today went on a field trip.  Each year the local art museum hosts an "Art is..." series.  A different country is showcased every year.  This year we experienced "Art is... Japan".  Students got to make an origami fish, dress in traditional Japanese clothing, do a wood block painting, make a theater mask and learn about Japanese food and toys.  They had a blast and were very well behaved!

4. Anchor charts... Here are a few anchor charts that I've made this week.  The first one is an anchor chart for using an effective lead when writing.  The second is a test prep anchor chart for short response questions.  We are working really hard on learning to restate the question in your answer to make sure you're writing a complete sentence.

5. Tonight was the Valentine's Day dance at the middle school that my daughters attend.  Here's a picture of them before the dance.  I didn't get their picture together because my oldest daughter had to go and get ready with her friends.  She did take a quick (sassy) self portrait before she left.  My youngest daughter let me do her hair.  She wan't thrilled with wearing a dress so insisted on wearing leggings!  Oh the difference two years can make!!
Have a wonderful three day weekend and don't forget to enter my 400 follower giveaway!  It ends on Monday!!

  5. Hooray for the paper check!!! It's worth the wait! ;-) PS we didn't even get to have a "less than 30 min celebration." We weren't allowed. :( My kids passed out their cards before bus call. :( I do miss those days........

  8. Love your anchor charts. I need to make one for answering the question too. We are working on this and I still have several students struggling with restating the question. Thanks for sharing!
