The Daily Grind for February

It's hard to believe that January is almost over!  It's probably because out of the 18 schools days we have had this month, 11 of them have been either snow days or delay days.  That is crazy, even for Indiana!  I finished my morning work Power Point/worksheets for next month.  The Daily Grind is an ELA 5-10 minute beginning of the school day review.  I have a different topic each day of the week.
There are 25 daily activity slides or sheets so more than enough to get you through the month.  Here is a preview of what's included.
If you would like to take a closer look, you can check it out in my TpT store.  I've also started a bundle of The Daily Grind.  Purchase yours today and receive each additional month at NO EXTRA COST when they are added to the bundle!

Fractions Interactive Notebook

My students started learning about fractions right after Winter Break.  I don't know why it is that some kids have the hardest time understanding the concept.  I worked hard to finish my Interactive Math Notebook for Fractions over the weekend.  These flipbooks have helped my students because they now have resource that they can refer to when doing their homework.

The notebook includes eleven flipbooks that students can glue into their interactive math notebook.
I also included fractions strips for students to manipulate when comparing fractions.  You can check my Interactive Math Notebook out at my TpT store.
I am working on bundling my seven Interactive Math Notebooks!  I will continue to add new notebooks throughout the school year and the price will increase as each new notebook is added. You'll be able to download new notebooks for free!  Hopefully, I'll have it listed soon!

Need some help with morning work?

I've tried a quite a few bell ringer/morning work activities this school year and nothing seemed to be working.  Most activities were either too easy, too hard, not engaging or left me with extra work to grade.  I decided over break to come up with my own morning work based on our reading series, Reading Street by Pearson.

The Daily Grind was born!
I started with the January edition.  Each day has a different theme...
The Daily Grind can be shown on a Smart Board or you can print them (two to a sheet to cut back on ink and paper).

I will be making The Daily Grind for each month so stay tuned for February's edition.  You can take a look at the preview here!

Getting Ready for the 100th Day of School

The 100th day of school is probably one of the most looked forward to days of the entire school year for primary students.  It's a day spent doing more activities done with the number 100 than humanly thought possible!!  I have a jar for nearly every topic in my classroom so I thought why not have a jar for the 100th day of school?  Students can use this jar for the week leading up to the 100th day of school or during the 100th day only.

There are 30 activity cards/writing prompts included along with 13 printables for students to complete.  Here are a few up close samples...

You can find the 100th Day of School Jar in my TpT store.  It's 50% for the next 24 hours!!

Currently January

January 1, 2014!  Oh how I love a clean slate!  I'm linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for the first Currently of 2014.

Listening... to the box set of Friends.  My daughter got it for Christmas so that's pretty much all we have done over break.  We are currently on Season 4!

Loving... time with my family.  This has been the first Christmas in years that my husband has been on first shift (he's a police officer).  We are really enjoying spending time together in the evenings (watching Friends!).

Thinking... I need to get up and get moving!  My friend bought me a Fitbit for Christmas and I am not reaching my daily goal of 10,000 steps.  I've decided to run another marathon this year because that's the only thing that seems to motivate me.

Wanting... snow!  I'm an Indiana girl and I love my snow.  Fingers crossed that we'll have a few snowstorms this winter.  Maybe then we can finish the other six seasons of Friends.

Needing... to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator.  My husband bought me a Wacom Intuos Tablet for Christmas.  I love to draw and really want to learn how to make clipart.  I've watched a few YouTube videos but still haven't really gotten the hang of it.
Memory... our new puppy!  We decided that our 10 month old golden retriever needed a wife (or sister if the breeding thing doesn't work out) to keep him company during the day.  Sweet Phoebe (named after Phoebe Buffay, of course) arrived on December 23rd.  It was love at first sight!!

On a side note, I finished two products for the new year recently. The first is Writing Workstation Jar of Happy New Year Writing Prompts.  It comes with 32 writing prompts and 7 different writing paper templates.  You can check it out here.

The second is a freebie for right after Winter Break.  You can download it here.

Hope you are enjoying your break!!
