Before pictures... prepare yourself!

Next school year I am switching grade levels and classrooms.  My first grade classroom was spacious, clean and perfect.  My new classroom is not.  I am moving into a former 6th grade classroom.  I'm not sure what went on in that classroom over the last few years but it is a mess.  The carpet is filthy.  The counter top and sink area are disgusting.  The cabinet doors are falling apart.  Unfortunately, I have no control over those areas.  The one area that I can control is the paint.  As of today my new classroom has a new coat of paint, thanks to my wonderful husband!  I had to paint it the same color but at least the walls are free of chipped paint and dirt.  I have lots of plans for my new classroom over the next few weeks.  I will be documenting the metamorphoses of my new room for all to see. The following photos show you the before makeover...
All of my junk prized possessions!
At least I'll still have a SMART Board.
The one plus of my new room- it's self contained.   My old room had an open concept.
 The nasty sink area.

And last but not least!  What does every man want to do on Father's Day?  Paint his wife's classroom!  A great BIG thanks to my WONDERFUL husband!

Stay tuned for updates on my classroom makeover!!

  4. I have moved classrooms 5 (yes 5) times in my 5 years of teaching and nothing is worse than moving into a dirty room! Thankfully you have your hubby to help paint! I have made best friends with the janitor over the years so that always makes moving to a yucky room a little easier! I can't wait to see what the finished product looks like!

P.S. Congrats on the move to 3rd you are going to LOVE IT!!
